Augusta Maine
Hospitality Industry

Welcome to LodgingGuide's hospitality industry listings for the Augusta, Maine area.

In what’s known as Maine’s mid-coast region, Augusta lines both sides of the Kennebec River along Water Street. The elegant domed State House, packing notable architectural allure, was built of granite in 1829, two years after Augusta became capital. Maine State Museum is filled with thousands of artifacts, from the Ice Age through the 1800s, and Augusta’s circa 1754 Fort Western, used by Benedict Arnold during the American Revolution, ranks as New England’s oldest surviving wooden fort. Augusta doubles as a gateway to the China and Belgrade Lakes regions, renowned as resorts for boating, angling, and swimming. The Upper Kennebec and Moose River Valleys feature hiking, biking, kayaking, whitewater rafting, fishing, hunting, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and fall foliage viewing. Beginning in Augusta, the region follows the Kennebec River and scenic Route 201 through Waterville (with the Redington Museum and Colby College), Skowhegan (with the Margaret Chase Smith Library and Lake George Park), The Forks (a hub for whitewater rafting), and Jackman (a major snowmobiling center). Augusta State Airport, managed and operated by the city, provides regular scheduled passenger service to and from Boston, and connecting to other destinations in Maine and the northeast.
